Mozart - Get to know the “Wunderkind” and let yourself be enchanted by his music!
Salzburg is inseparably connected to the name of its most famous son. Moreover, a visit at the Salzach River is likewise an encounter with Mozart, as the traces of his oeuvre are still alive in Salzburg.
Tourists of the entire world get together in the famous Getreidegasse — Mozart’s birth place. This house has become the meeting place for all those people close-up look at the life and work of the brilliant composer. Mozart wrote more than 150 pieces in the Tanzmeisterhaus, the house where the Mozart family resided until 1780. The multi-vision show Mozart und Salzburg depicts the short life of the genius in fascinating pictures and in six different languages. On Mozartplatz square stands a bronze statue of the composer, created in 1842 by Ludwig Schwanthaler. In the Basteigarten you can also see the Zauberflötenhäuschen (the house of the Magic Flute), originally built in Vienna, where Mozart wrote parts of his celebrated Zauberflöte. The installations of the Mozarteum have been dedicated to the task of conserving the heritage of Mozart and to make it accessible for the rest of the world. Mozart not only composed famous operas, such as Figaro’s Wedding and Don Giovanni, but also created more than 20 piano concerts. Even those who do not listen to Mozart’s music with unlimited admiration will be delighted by the taste of one of the legendary Mozartkugel in the popular Café Fürst.
